Mariangela! starts off today, a tribute to Mariangela Melato signed by Fabrizio Corallo that will be broadcast in three episodes on Rai Storia. The artistic and personal life of an extraordinary actress who died in Rome in 2013 at the age of 71. A journey through cinema, theatre, television and daily life of a woman who has deeply marked the Italian artistic scene, with Lella Costa and many witnesses and friends of Mariangela, starting of course with Renzo Arbore, who was also his life partner.

The first episode that will be broadcast tonight will focus on the very early stage of her career, especially during the period 1941 to 1973 and will retrace her childhood in Milan with her sister Anna and then the painting studies at the Academy of Brera in the 1950s, the period when she frequented the Bar Jamaica, the meeting spot of many Milanese artists such as Ugo Mulas, Piero Manzoni and Mario Dondero. And there will also be her job as window dresser at La Rinascente, by which she could pay her first acting courses. And also the entrance, at the age of 19, in the crew of Fantasio Piccoli, her first roles with Dario Fo in the film “Settimo: ruba un po’ meno” and “La colpa è sempre del diavolo”. And all accompanied by the videos taken form Rai archives and the words of Maurizio Porro, critic and very close friend of hers, Giovanna Guida, actress and Mariangela’s assistant, Annabella Cerliani, author and historic confidant; and Sergio Escobar, director of Piccolo Teatro di Milano.
