This past August 13 marked the end of the 75th Locarno Film Festival, during which viewer participation gave a tangible sign of the renewed desire to come together in person.

Among the 226 films in the program and 471 screenings, this year’s edition brought together the past and the future of cinema: a retrospective dedicated to Douglas Sirk, distinguished prizes awarded to veterans such as Costa-Gavras and young talents such as Daisy Edgar-Jones, as well as to the poetic animation of Gitanjali Rao, joined on stage by the young participants in the Atelier du Futur, and finally to projects focused on multidisciplinarity and new media.
