The new Lazio Cinema International call supporting international film co-productions, with the co-participation of Lazio audiovisual companies, has been published.

The call has a budget of 5 million euros, half of which is reserved for Audiovisual Works of Regional Interest. The planned aid is non-repayable, commensurate with the costs admitted and sustained with the maximum amount of 500,000 euros and may not exceed 35 percent of eligible costs.

The recipients of the call are SMEs, Co-producers and Independent Producers with ATECO code 2007 59.1 registered in the Register of Enterprises (or equivalent register of an EU Member State) with fiscal residence in Italy and an operational office in Lazio with the “financial” and operational capacity necessary to realize the audiovisual work.

The intervention supports the realization of international audiovisual works with Italian and foreign co-partnership share, works under international co-production or international production, and audiovisual works other than cinematographic works to which Italian nationality is recognized.

From this edition, the selection procedure will be based on ranking; in fact, eligible works deemed suitable by the Technical Evaluation Committee will be financed, in order of score until the budget is exhausted and taking into account the reserve for Works of Regional Interest.

“With this call for proposals we are offering a new support of 5 million euros to the cinema and audiovisual sector with the first objective to support Lazio’s film production companies.  A help that in recent years we have never failed to give to a sector that is once again recovering after the inevitable stop due to the economic crisis,” said Lazio Region Deputy Vice President Daniele Leodori.

“The Region therefore confirms its commitment to the cinema and audiovisual sector to support the competitiveness of film production companies and to give greater visibility to the tourist attractions of Lazio, leading region in Italy for investments in cinema and audiovisuals” said Giovanna Pugliese, Lazio Region Cinema Delegate, and Paolo Orneli, Regional Councillor for Economic Development, Trade and Crafts, University, Research, Startup and Innovation.

Applications to access the fund can be submitted from December 7, 2022 to January 12, 2023, exclusively through Lazio Innova’s GeCoWeb Plus platform.
