The Ministry of Culture has defined the allocation of resources for the Cinema and Audiovisual Fund for 2026, with a total budget of over €606 million aimed at supporting the entire industry value chain.
The largest share is assigned to tax credit schemes, with €441 million allocated to support production, distribution, exhibition and the attraction of international investments. A significant portion of these resources is directed toward film and audiovisual production, including projects for cinema, television, web and video game content.
Alongside automatic incentives, €41.7 million has been allocated to selective funding measures targeting development and production. These resources are primarily aimed at emerging talent, first and second features, documentaries, animation and minority co-productions, as well as strengthening script development and international circulation.
A further area of intervention concerns promotion activities, with over €100 million dedicated to initiatives ranging from festivals to the enhancement of audiovisual heritage and support for key industry institutions. Within this framework, the funding contributes to strengthening both the domestic presence and international visibility of the Italian audiovisual sector.
The plan also includes a component focused on skills development, with €20 million allocated to training and professional upskilling. Overall, the funding structure outlines a balanced approach between industrial support, cultural growth and the competitive positioning of the audiovisual sector.
