From September 23th to September 29th, the Italian Film Festival 2024 will take place at the National Cinema Center in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Asian Film Festival in Rome.

The aim is to promote Italian culture abroad through cinema by screening six recent, and acclaimed, Italian movies.

Among these is the Oscar-nominated “Io Capitano” by Matteo Garrone, produced by Archimede, Tarantula, Pathé Pictures and Rai Cinema, which tells the story of two migrants on their way to Italy and winner of numerous awards such as the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival and the David di Donatello for Best Film.

Among the other titles selected are two directorial debuts for two famous italian actors: “Zamora”, by Neri Marcorè, produced by Pepito Produzioni and Rai Cinema, and “Palazzina Laf”, produced by Palomar, BIM Produzione and Rai Cinema, by Michele Riondino, also starring in the film and winner of the David di Donatello as Best Actor in a Leading Role.

There is also “My summer with Irene” by Carlo Sironi, “La Chimera” by Alice Rohrwacher with Josh O’Connor and “Kidnapped” by Marco Bellocchio, produced by IBC Movie, Kavac and Rai Cinema.

At the end of each screening there will be a discussion on the movie just screened chaired by Antonio Termenini, president of the Asian Film Festival in Rome.

During the event there will also be numerous meetings and workshops aimed at promoting Italian film culture in Vietnam.
