The best seller “I leoni di Sicilia“, a novel by the writer Stefania Auci published by Casa Editrice Nord, is set to become a TV series directed by Paolo Genovese.

As reported by Balarm, the Florio saga should begin filming in February in Sicily before being broadcast by the Disney streamer.

The novel, set in the Sicily of the 800’s, traces the vicissitudes of the Calabrian Paolo Florio and his family. Due to the disastrous earthquake that struck Bagnara Calabra, the family left for Palermo becoming a dynasty of shipowners, entrepreneurs of wine, fish preservation, ceramics, tourism, protagonists of a golden age of economic development of the region.

The production of the project is managed by Lotus Production, a Leone Film Group company.
