Nominations for 93rd Academy Awards were announced Monday morning. Italy will be represented at the Oscar ceremony by Matteo Garrone’s ‘Pinocchio’  and Laura Pausini’s music.

Due to the pandemic emergency and the closure of cinemas in major markets, the ceremony will be held on 25 April, two months later than usual. Despite the discouraging period, a female record has been set. In fact, 70 women received a total of 76 nominations.

Italy will be represented at the Oscar ceremony by Matteo Garrone’s ‘Pinocchio’  and Laura Pausini’s music.
“Pinocchio” is nominated for costumes and makeup. Pausini, on the other hand, is in the running for best original song “Io sì (Seen)”, already a Golden Globe winner, from ‘The Life Ahead’ (Eduardo Ponti, Sophia Loren), already a Golden Globe winner.
