Internal files from Amazon have revealed for the first time the numbers concerning the video programming of Amazon prime, a platform for film and TV series owned by the e-shopping multinational company.

The files analyze 19 original productions from Amazon together with their cost, audience size, and the number of clients who subscribed to the Prime service after watching the films.

Only in the United States, these productions have registered a total amount of 26 million viewers in 2017, which accounts for almost a third of the total amount of members subscribed to their service. Meanwhile, a few sources have claimed that the total expenses incurred in original content by the multinational company in 2017 have reached about 5 billion, and this digit is expected to rise in the future, with ambitious projects already underway, such as the multi-series adaptation of The Lord of the Rings, with an estimated budget of more than 200 million dollars.

In any case, Jeff Bezos, the founder, has always been transparent about the distribution of video content, which helps to increment online sales: “When we win a Golden Globe, it helps us sell more shoes”.
