The film Family Therapy – presented at MIA in the 2021 Film Co-Production Market & Pitching Forum section, will be showcased at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in the International Narrative Competition section.

Sonja Prosenc’s third feature film, already an Oscar candidate for The Tree and History of Love, tells the story of an apparently perfect family. When Julien, the head of the family’s son, arrives at the house, his presence disrupts the delicate balance, creating chaos.

“Painted in a satirical key, the film boasts extraordinary performances, particularly by Marko Mandic as the patriarch and Aliocha Schneider as the young intruder. Beautifully shot and carefully edited, Family Therapy not only questions the actions of those who do not stop to help but also delves into the reasons behind their choices,” stated Tribeca Festival’s Programming Manager and Programmer, Jason Gutierrez.

The film is a production of the Slovenian company MONOO, in co-production with the Italian INCIPIT FILM, the Norwegian INCITUS AS, the Serbian LIVING PICTURES, and the Croatian WOLFGANG&DOLLY. It was almost entirely filmed in Friuli Venezia Giulia, where it received support from the Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Fund and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission, with the support of MiC.
