“The data on ‘Cinema Revolution’ are extremely positive. I applaud Minister Sangiuliano, Undersecretary Borgonzoni and the offices of the Ministry of Culture for having re-proposed the initiative in support of cinema in theatres, which was initially financed and desired by an amendment of Parliament,” commented Federico Mollicone, the chairman of the Chamber’s Culture Committee, on the data released on the initiative, which brought home better results than 2023: +13.4% in box office and +8.8% in admissions. Respectively +70.2% and +50.8% over the average of the three-year period 2017-2019.

“Having invested in the ‘Cinema Revolution’ initiative is once again proving to be a winning move. Audiences are responding enthusiastically to the range of titles and promotions that make up this second edition of the campaign, and the great results recorded since June tell of a spectacular summer 2024. I would like to thank all those who have believed in the project and worked alongside us to give viewers the unique experience of watching a film on the big screen, thus supporting not only the theatres but the development of the entire cinema industry”.

This was stated by the Undersecretary for Culture Lucia Borgonzoni at the opening of the panel presenting the data of the MiC “Cinema Revolution 2024” campaign, promoted by the Ministry of Culture’s General Directorate for Cinema and Audiovisual in collaboration with Cinetel, during the 81st Venice International Film Festival.
