One month after its release in Italian cinemas, Barbie does not abandon the top spot with a gross that rises to €1,556,143, gaining the highest Italian box office of 2023, second only to Avatar: The Water Way. Shark 2 – The Abyss holds on to second place with a €848,086 profit. The third position is occupied by the new DC film Blue Beetle, leading Warner Bros. to dominate the podium of the ranking undisturbed. Released on 17 August in Italian theatres, this new superhero from the DC Universe lands on the big screen and it also portrays the first Hispanic character to play the lead role in a live action superhero film. The cast also includes Susan Sarandon as the unseen villain. The box office is at €529,214.

In fourth place is Massimiliano Bruno and Edoardo Leo’s Italian comedy I Peggiori giorni, which earned €454,337, while Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One dropped to fifth place, grossing €239,484 this week, followed by Pixar’s animated film Elemental with €199,341.

The free adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 19th century novel, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, is in seventh place, earning €158,000, followed by the latest episode in the Indiana Jones saga Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which takes in €124,091.

The last two positions are occupied by Tonari no Totoro and Metallica M72 World Tour Live From TX #1 with earnings of €71,246 and €46,815 respectively.
