Biennale di Venezia confirms the 5th edition of Biennale College Cinema – Virtual Reality project. The contest is supported by MiBACT-DG Cinema.

The project is reserved for Italian creatives and concerns the development and realisation of virtual reality works. Teams must be composed by one director and one producer and both have to be of Italian nationality. In order to participate, teams must be on their second or third virtual reality project. However, there are no age limits. To apply for the contest, teams can go on the official website www.labiennale.org and send applications until 19th May 2020.

In order to be able to access the competition, projects must have a maximum duration of 30 minutes and have a produciton cost of €60.000 or less. The winners will be invited to take part in a development workshop, taught in English. The workshop will take place in Venice from the 9th-13th October 2020.

After the workshop, there will be another selection after which only two works will enter the competition against other ten projects previously selected during the international version of the contest. Among these twelve progects, only three will access the support of Biennale, which will cover the production costs (up to € 60.000). The winning projects will be presented at the 78. Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia 2021.

Biennale College Cinema – Virtual Reality contest holds the support of MiBACT – DG Cinema. It is also supported by an important fund from Programma MEDIA – Europa Creativa of the European Commission.
