The David di Donatello 2023 took place last night. The Italian version of the Oscars, aired in prime time on Rai 1 have consolidated at the conduction Carlo Conti, this year joined by actress Matilde Gioli. The winner for best film was Felix Van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch’s The Eight Mountains, the adaptation of Paolo Cognetti’s novel, starring Alessandro Borghi and Luca Marinelli. In addition to best film, The Eight Mountains also won the awards for best nonoriginal screenplay, best sound, and best cinematography. The statuette for best director went to Marco Bellocchio for his Esterno notte, which also won for best editing, best makeup, and best leading actor to Fabrizio Gifuni.
