La7 Cinema, the new channel entirely dedicated to films by the Cairo Communication group, is set to make its debut on digital terrestrial television. The network will replace La7d on channel 29, marking a significant shift in the group’s broadcasting strategy.

La7 Cinema is designed as a space for cinephiles and general audiences alike, offering quality and variety within Italy’s free-to-air landscape. Its programming will span every genre, from comedies to thrillers, while also showcasing timeless classics and more recent releases, aiming to deliver a diverse and engaging schedule.

The channel will launch with Quiz Show (1994), directed by Robert Redford and starring John Turturro and Ralph Fiennes. The choice carries symbolic weight: the film has been selected as a tribute to Redford, who recently passed away and remains one of the most respected and influential figures in cinema.

With La7 Cinema, Cairo Communication strengthens its presence in the Italian television market, seeking to reach a wider and more fragmented audience at a time when competition from streaming platforms and thematic channels is at its peak.

The new channel stands as a strategic addition to the group’s portfolio, complementing the news and current affairs programming that have long defined La7, while shifting the focus towards cinematic entertainment. It signals a clear intention to diversify and innovate, without abandoning the identity the brand has built over the years.

For Italian viewers, La7 Cinema will offer a new free-to-air destination to experience great cinema directly on digital terrestrial television.
