The 8^ edition of the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival, the festival created and directed by Tiziana Rocca, finished. The festival took place in Cagliari and in Forte Village from June 19th to 22th. This year, special attention has been paid to the younger generation. The festival, infact, was extended until June 28th with a special section of screenings addressed to students at Notorius Cinema in Cagliari.

More than seventy titles screened during the event. Among these Steven Soderbergh’s horror, Presence, with Lucy Liu and Chris Sullivan; the spy story presented in competition in Berlin and acclaimed by the critics, Reflection in a Dead Diamond by Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani played by Fabio Testi; and the America martian arts film Karate Kid: Legends, directed by Jonathan Entwistle.

The festival was opened by Poveri Noi, directed by Fabrizio Maria Cortese and starring Paolo Ruffini, Ricky Memphis, Ilaria Spada and Maria Grazia Cucinotta. The film will be distributed by Adler Entertainment.

The record of this edition mainly concerns the number of internationally renowned celebrities who participated in the event. Among them Simon Baker, who received the Filming Italy Excellence Award, Gia Coppola, Fran Drescher, Jane Seymour, Sarah Michelle Gellar and many others. There were also many Italian celebrities as Sergio Castellitto, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Pif, Claudia Gerini, Gabriele Mainetti, Raoul Bova, Giovanni Veronesi, Silvio Soldini, Gaia Girace, Irene Maiorino, Silvia D’Amico, Barbara Foria, Francesco Paolantoni, Paolo Conticini, Francesco Scianna, Nicolas Maupas, Claudia Tranchese, Chiara Iezzi, Rosalia Porcaro, Yvonne Sciò.

Martina Stella was the patroness of this edition whereas Micaela Ramazzotti chaired the exceptional jury of the competition dedicated to short films. The initiative was realized in collaboration with the University of Cagliari which offers young students the opportunity to present their projects. The focus this year was on environment, school and constitution and youth languages. The short winner, Love to my life, realized by students of the University of Catania, will be broadcast on Rai Cinema Channel and it will be showed at the next Filming Italy – Los Angeles.

Also this year the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival was held in collaboration with APA – Associazione Produttori Audiovisivi, with the sponsorship of the region Sardinia, Cagliari city hall, Costa Smeralda Consortium and with the collaboration of Forte Village.
