Eight years after its first edition, held in Rome,The States-General of Animation, organised by Cartoon Italia together with Anica and Asifa Italia, returns to Florence.
“We trust that the instances of the animation world will be acknowledged in Parliament, which are all instances that are within the national interest, we must help the Italian industrial and creative part not to compete with the world champions that have existed for 100 years, from Hollywood to the others, but to be able to have a certain structure of incentives competitive with other countries. Otherwise, our companies go abroad or are bought up,’ said Francesco Rutelli, president of Anica.
‘The sector, which remained stable in the three-year period 2021-2023 compared to the previous one with a production volume of €126 million and 6,000 employees, shows a substantial improvement since 2016. “The use of the tax credit has made it clear that the money invested by the State returns with thousands of jobs and a considerable increase in turnover,” emphasised Maria Carolina Terzi, president of Cartoon Italia, who added that only with the obligation to invest a sub-quota of 5%, according to an estimate of the category, could there be an effective accrual.
A questo proposito anche Rutelli ha aggiunto come “la sottoquotanon è un piccolo interesse specifico del settore dell’animazione, per questo Anica l’ha appoggiata e la appoggia convintamente, perché è un modo per stare in questa competizione facendo crescere le migliaia di giovani che lavorano in questo settore, le centinaia di imprese che crescono e possono continuare a crescere”.
Nicola Borrelli, Direttore Generale della Direzione Generale Cinema e Audiovisivo del Ministero della Cultura ha sottolineato in chiusura della giornata: “Speriamo di dare tutto il supporto specifico che merita. Nella riforma del tax credit il settore ha un capitolo completamente dedicato. Sappiamo che altri interventi saranno necessari, ma questo è un buon punto di partenza”.
