The 2026 Drama Co-Production Market will present the international audiovisual industry with a selection of 18 series projects from 17 countries: Australia, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Panama, Poland, the United Kingdom, Spain, the United States and Sweden.
The projects were evaluated by a selection committee comprising 22 leading audiovisual-industry figures from 10 countries: Maria Pia Ammirati, Head of Drama, Rai Fiction (Italy); Manuel Alduy, Head of Cinema and International Fiction, France Télévisions (France); Marianne Furevold-Boland, Head of Drama, NRK (Norway); Jasmin Maeda, SVP International Fiction, Co-production & Acquisition, ZDF (Germany); Andrew Plotkin, Executive Vice President and Head of Drama Development, Sony Pictures Television (US); Tereza Polachová, Head of Drama and International Co-Productions, Česká televize (Czech Republic); and Jarmo Lampela, Head of Drama, YLE Finnish Broadcasting Company (Finland). Criminal Class (Australia), produced by Joel Kohn (Screen Invaders) and written by Alexei Mizin, Ryan Van Dykeand Paul Jenner, follows a brilliant criminology student who becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation. The Inheritance (Belgium, De Erfenis), produced by Kato Maes, Kristoffel Mertens and Karlijn Van de Cruys(Panenka) and written by Alexandra Jans & Jan Van Dyck, tells how the death of a wealthy widow ignites a battle over her estate and exposes her executor’s secret, unsuspected plan. Volcanic (Iceland, Croatia) depicts the aftermath of an eruption that forces Iceland’s entire population to seek refuge in Croatia, where a secret plan of conquest threatens to change everything. The project is produced by Nebosja Tarab (DRUGI PLAN) and Hörður Rúnarsson (ACT4), who met at MIA, and written by Matthías Tryggvi Haraldsson and Birnir Jón Sigurðsson.
Day Traitors (Denmark, Spioner), produced by Deborah Bayer Marlow and Michael Bille Frandsen (Nordisk Film Production) and written by Molly Stensgaard, Bo Hr. Hansen and Milad Alami, is a thriller about Amir, an intelligence agent who betrays his country to protect his family, only to destroy it. Sherlock North (Finland), produced by Laura Salonen and Juha Wuolijoki and written by Jari Olavi Rantala, Debbie Moon and Juha Wuolijoki, is based on the characters created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and is a contemporary Nordic crime series set in the remotest, wildest reaches of Lapland. Disqualified (Finland, Sweden, Paljastus), produced by Minna Virkajärvi(Banijay Finland) in co-production with Rubicon TV and Filmlance and written by Antti Heikki Pesonen, is a miniseries based on the Finnish novel Paljastus. It tells the story of a sports journalist subjected to a full-scale witch hunt after exposing a doping system within Finland’s national ski team. Conceived to be filmed in four languages, Restoration (France), a drama series produced by Anouk Kemp, Lea Jeanne Boehringer and Nathalie Madjar(Perfect Day) and written by Carol Noble and Kevin Childs, follows right-wing populist Sergio Alessi, who exploits a loophole in the Italian law barring men from the throne to secure power by installing the recently widowed former star Giulietta as queen.
Tribes (France), written by Eric Bouvron and Eric Dupont and produced by Eric Dupont (Incognito Films) and Romeo Cirone, is set during the Arab Revolt: the series aims to tell this chapter of history beyond the shadow of Lawrence of Arabia.
Reykjavík Noir (Iceland), produced by Andri Ómarsson (Glassriver), written by Lilja Sigurðardóttir, Loki Rúnarsson and Hrafnkell Stefánsson, and based on Lilja Sigurðardóttir‘s novel Snare, follows a former flight attendant who unexpectedly enters Iceland’s drug trade, discovers an exceptional talent for smuggling, and finds herself pursued by a customs officer determined to expose her.
The miniseries Wanda (Italy) centres on Wanda Ferragamo, who in 1960 takes the reins of her late husband’s company while raising six children, challenging a male-dominated world and turning Ferragamo into a global symbol of Made in Italy. Inspired by the true story of the Ferragamo family, the project is produced by Gloria Giorgianni(Anele Srl) and written by Gloria Giorgianni and Emanuela Rizzuto.
For the first time, Luxembourg takes part in the Drama Co-Production Market with Ulysses Moore (Luxembourg), a miniseries produced by Mark Mertens and Fred Neuen (Digital Voodooh), based on the adventure novels by Italian author Pierdomenico Baccalario and written by Mark Mertens, Pierdomenico Baccalario and Marco Serafini. The story follows 14-year-old twins who inherit a villa perched on a cliff and discover four doors leading to imaginary worlds, while a tech billionaire searches for the secret their family has guarded for forty years.
Another new entry for the Drama Co-Production Market: Panama joins the Selection for the first time with Escuela de las Américas (Panama, United States and Spain), produced by Brittany DeVries (Seedling Media Productions) and Guillermo Escalona (La Panda Productions). Written by Guillermo Escalona, the series uncovers the secrets behind a massacre in the 1990s, when Panamanian-American investigator Inés Vega reopens a dark chapter in Central American history.
Fortel (Poland), produced by Violetta Kamińska (Apple Film Production) and created by Dariusz Jabłoński and Marc Grey, follows a CIA agent trying to trap a group of Russian saboteurs in Poland while searching for his missing brother, who may hold the key to a dangerous intelligence leak. Producer Erik Magnusson (Anagram Sverige AB) presents The Making Of A Terrorist (Sweden), created and written by Leif Edlund and Emelia Hansson. The story follows a grieving father who, after his wife’s suicide and the loss of custody of his daughter, rebels against the system and embarks on a path of radicalisation. The Many Lives Of Miss K (UK), produced by Amy Gardner and Ben McGrath (Finite Films and TV) and created by Amy Gardner, is inspired by Jean-Noel Liaut‘s novel about Catharina “Toto” Koopman, the first biracial model to appear on the cover of Vogue, who later became a spy during the Second World War and survived the Ravensbrück concentration camp. Sirocco (UK, Greece) follows a Greek investigator working for Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office who returns to an Aegean island scarred by the migration crisis after a hotel manager is found dead at the foot of a cliff. The series is produced by Erik Pack and Ioanna Karavela (EP:IK Pictures), with Argonauts Productions, and created and written by Erik Pack. The third British project is Burntime (UK), presented by producer and creator Douglas Mackinnon (Rugged Island Films Ltd), the Emmy Award-winning producer and director of Outstanding TV Movie and BAFTA Scotland Award-winning director known for his work on Outlander, The Ridge, Doctor Who and Good Omens. The story follows Kylie MacDonald, a young paramedic dealing with life-or-death emergencies during the Edinburgh Festival while searching for the doctor she believes is responsible for her son’s death. Monsters’ Shrink (UK, Italy), produced by Aton Soumache and JJ Lousberg (Magical Society), Nicola Serra and Margherita Chiti (Palomar), follows a disgraced London therapist who moves to Rome and discovers that monsters have lived among humans for centuries. Written by Jeremy Dyson, the project is based on Joanna Sfar‘s novel L’Eternel.
