David Letterman heads back to TV. After two years out of the spotlight, the famous host of CBS has confirmed rumours about his deal with Netflix for a six-episode show planned for next year. The streaming giant convinced him through the strength of its huge wallet. “I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix”, Letterman said, formalising the deal. “Here’s what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first”. The new show, which has no title yet, will consist of a series of one-hour interviews with a public figure, interspersed with his usual laughable and zany segments. Letterman has been out of the public view in the last two years retiring in Montana and growing a Unabomber-length beard, but nobody on TVhas been able to replace his inimitable verve, capable of telling the taste and the mood of an audience watching him for over thirty years. The show will be produced as usual by Letterman’s Worldwide Pants and, as stated by Ted Sarandos during the announcement, “we’ll see David out in the wild, out from behind the desk and interviewing the people he finds most interesting. We’ll have to see if he keeps the beard”.
