From November 21 to 29, 2025, Turin will once again become the beating heart of auteur cinema with the 43rd Torino Film Festival, organized by the National Museum of Cinema under the presidency of Enzo Ghigo and the direction of Carlo Chatrian, with Giulio Base as Artistic Director. Following last year’s success, the festival reaffirms its identity as a creative laboratory blending experimentation, social engagement, and international glamour.
The 2025 retrospective is dedicated to Paul Newman, celebrating the centenary of his birth. Twenty-five films will trace the career of the Hollywood legend — from Cool Hand Luke to The Sting. The official poster, designed by Eva Sereny (Iconic Images), captures Newman on the set of Sydney Pollack’s Absence of Malice — a symbol of elegance and unease that perfectly embodies the festival’s spirit.
The opening ceremony will take place on Friday, November 21, at the Teatro Regio, hosted by Laura Chiatti and Giulio Base. During the evening, the “Stelle della Mole” awards will be presented to Jacqueline Bisset, Daniel Brühl, Sergio Castellitto, Spike Lee, Claude Lelouch, Stefania Sandrelli, and Aleksandr Sokurov, followed by the Italian premiere of Eternity by David Freyne, distributed by I Wonder Pictures.
The program features 120 titles — feature films, documentaries, and shorts — selected from over 5,500 submissions, including 23 world premieres and 11 international premieres. Among the most anticipated films are Eva by Emanuela Rossi, Bobò by Pippo Delbono, Resurrection by Bi Gan, Kiss of the Spider Woman by Bill Condon starring Jennifer Lopez and Diego Luna, and Zorro by Sergio Castellitto.
Beyond screenings, the festival will offer talks, masterclasses, and tributes dedicated to leading figures of contemporary cinema. Among the international guests expected are Al Pacino, Juliette Binoche, Elizabeth Olsen, Russell Crowe, Spike Lee, Isabelle Huppert, Miles Teller, and Rami Malek.
“The heart of our festival remains cinema made for the big screen,” said Giulio Base. “It’s in that shared darkness where cinema renews its magic and finds its truest meaning.”
