ANICA, APA and APE with the trade unions sat down at the same negotiating table, at the headquarters of the National Association of Audiovisual and Digital Cinematographic Industries, and brought home a historic agreement concerning the national collective labour agreement for the profession of stuntmen and stuntwomen: the first in the history of the sector.
Defined as ‘an innovative and appropriate CCNL for the times, which regulates the work, talent and skills that belong to the universe of stuntmen and stuntwomen, which enhances the profession and ensures them protection and guarantees more concrete and more articulated than in the past’.
The first novelty it introduces is the classification of the professional figures involved: stunt performer, stunt coordinator, assistant coordinator, stunt head rigger and stunt rigger. The contract establishes a daily working time of 9 hours, plus 1 hour break, and the pay varies from 400.00 euros gross per day for riggers, to 800.00 euros gross per day for stunt coordinators.
The aim of the agreement is to establish a minimum standard of protection not only in terms of salary but also social security, considering that the professional category has to deal with the discontinuity of work in the sector. And given the risky nature of stuntmen’s work, careful supervision of safety regulations on the set by the Stuntman Coordinator, the RSP and the production manager must be ensured. A medical examination prior to the start of filming and accident insurance cover are also mandatory.
