The nineteenth edition of the Rome Film Fest closed on Sunday, October 27, with the awards ceremony. The jury presided over by director, screenwriter and producer Pablo Trapero, flanked by editor Francesca Calvelli, French actress Laetitia Casta, producer Gail Egan and writer and screenwriter Dennis Lehane recognized Elio Germano with the ‘Vittorio Gassman’ Award for the lead role in “The Great Ambition” by Andrea Segre, while the ‘Monica Vitti’ Award for Best Actress went to Spain’s Angela Molina for Carlos Marques-Marcet’s Polvo seran.

The Audience Award was given to Eran Riklis’ “Reading Lolita in Tehran.” Huo Xin’s Chinese film Bound in Heaven (Progressive Cinema section) triumphed with a double win: Best Film and Best Directorial Debut. The latter prize – awarded by a special jury composed of director and screenwriter Francesca Comencini, composer and writer Kaili Peng and actor Antoine Reinartz – comes ex aequo with another title in competition “Ciao bambino” by Edgardo Pistone (Freestyle section).

The Grand Jury Prize was awarded to “La nuit se traîne” by Michiel Blanchart. The list of award recipients concludes with Morrisa Maltz winning Best Director for “Jazzy,” while Christopher Andrews goes for Best Screenplay for “Bring Them Down.”
