The Autonomous Region of Sardinia, through the Department of Education, Cultural Heritage, Information, Entertainment, and Sport, has published a new call for proposals to support the production of feature films of significant regional interest, in accordance with Articles 7 and 12 of Regional Law No. 15/2006.

The initiative allocates a total of €1,650,000 to promote film projects that enhance the Island’s cultural, landscape, and anthropological identity. It represents a concrete opportunity for producers and authors who wish to tell stories about Sardinia, highlighting its tangible and intangible heritage, while also aiming to boost employment in the local audiovisual sector in synergy with the work of the Sardegna Film Commission.

The call is open to Italian and foreign film and audiovisual production companies, operating individually or as part of a consortium (RTI), that meet strict requirements of financial soundness and proven track record in the sector. Cultural associations, foundations, and freelance professionals are not eligible to apply. Eligible companies must have been active for at least 24 months and be fully compliant with tax and social security obligations.

Project selection will be based on a ranking system, with a maximum score of 100 points. Only projects scoring at least 50 points will be eligible for funding, with a minimum of 40 points required in the evaluation of cultural content.

Particular importance will be given to the following elements:

  • clearly recognizable setting in Sardinia;

  • number of shooting days on the Island;

  • involvement of cast and crew born in or resident in Sardinia for at least 24 months;

  • female or under-35 professionals in directing, production, or distribution roles;
