At the opening of the fifth and final day of the MIA | Mercato Internazionale dell’Audiovisivo, the panel Tracing Paths for Global Cooperations placed at the center of the discussion one of the most pressing challenges in today’s industry: building effective and sustainable production partnerships between countries that are geographically and culturally distant.

The speakers shared experiences, strategies, and insights on the future of international co-productions, emphasizing the importance of common working models and a truly global vision.

The conversation was opened by Olivier Lelardoux, CEO of Blue Spirit – Studio TF1, who spoke about how his company is exploring new creative horizons, even beyond traditional cultural boundaries: “We are French producers, and we decided to create a manga-style project,” he explained. “While manga originates from Japan, we believe there’s room for creativity and cultural exchange. That’s why we’ve brought on board Japanese mangaka, directors, and actors to ensure authenticity and respect for the genre, blending it with the French storytelling approach.”

In turn, Jinsu Shin, Commissioning Editor at EBS Korea Educational Broadcasting System, highlighted the value of international collaborations in strengthening children’s content production: “The podcast format we developed for the American and South American markets has unexpectedly strengthened our European partnerships,” he shared. “We hope to maintain this momentum and carry it forward into new projects over the coming years.”

Finally, Coralie Boitrelle-Laigle, Director of Youth Content France at M6 Group – Gulli, emphasized that creating content for children also entails a strong ethical and value-driven responsibility: “We believe that values are at the heart of every project,” she stated. “We create content for kids and want to pass on the principles we hold dear. It’s essential that all partners involved share the same vision, because what’s a priority for one country may not be for another.”

Moderated by Mounia Aram, Founder & CEO of MA Company, the panel offered an insightful and concrete look at the challenges and opportunities of global cooperation in the audiovisual sector, reaffirming MIA’s role as a truly international platform for dialogue and cultural exchange.
