The International Documentary Festival Visioni dal Mondo, conceived and directed by Francesco Bizzarri, is just around the corner. As every year, this edition is ready to celebrate documentary cinema as both an art form and a tool for understanding, offering a space for reflection and dialogue on some of today’s most pressing issues.

From September 11 to 14, Milan will host directors, producers, distributors, and audiovisual industry professionals for national and international premieres, talks, roundtables, and business sessions through Visioni Incontra, the Festival’s Industry section, curated by Cinzia Masòtina, Head of Industry.

This year’s theme – One Step Further– invites audiences not only to reflect, but above all to take action, to get involved, to look beyond appearances and embrace a critical and conscious perspective. The Festival highlights the documentary as a means to understand the present: a language of investigation, but also an aesthetic and human experience.

The 11th edition features the artistic direction of Maurizio Nichetti, who affirms: “In an era where artificial intelligence promises to replicate every aspect of our cognitive function, it is provocative – yet essential – to speak of real intelligence: the kind that stems from sensitivity, imagination, empathy, and the ability to feel emotions. That is what truly makes us human. Documentary cinema embodies this authentic intelligence and is, now more than ever, an act of freedom and awareness against conformity.”

This year’s Guest of Honor will be director and producer Luca Lucini (Love Theoretically, Me and My Brother).
