The 78th edition of the Locarno Film Festival, Switzerland’s most important film event, directed by Giona A. Nazzaro, has just concluded. This year, the Pardo d’Oro was awarded to Tabi to Hibi (Two Seasons, Two Strangers) by Sho Miyake, making it the fourth Japanese film in the Festival’s history to receive this honor.

White Snail by Elsa Kremser and Levin Peter received the Special Jury Prize, while Abbas Fahdel won the Best Direction Award for his Tales of the Wounded Land. The award for Best Performance went to Manuela Martelli and Ana Marija Veselčić for Bog neće pomoći (God Will Not Help) by Hana Jušić, and to Marya Imbro and Mikhail Senkov for their roles in White Snail.

In the Concorso Cineasti del Presente the winners were Tóc, giấy và nước… (Hair, Paper, Water…) by Nicolas Graux and Trương Minh Quý, which received the Pardo d’Oro, and the Italian title Gioia Mia by Margherita Spampinato, which won both the CINÉ+ Special Jury Prize and the Pardo for Best Performance awarded to Aurora Quattrocchi.
