From October 30th to November 1st, 2025, Trieste will become the Italian capital of cultural video games, hosting the fourth edition of IVIPRO DAYS. The event is part of the famous Trieste Science+Fiction Festival.

The initiative aims to explore the potential of video games beyond pure entertainment, presenting them as a powerful tool for storytelling. They will be used to share stories, collective memories, and cultural identities from different places.

To introduce the public to the festival’s themes, preview content will be available from mid-October on IVIPRO’s social media profiles (Facebook and YouTube).

The three-day event will have a full schedule of meetings with international guests. It begins on October 30th with a session dedicated to the video game scene of Eastern Europe, offering a chance for professional networking and exchange.

Other events will cover various themes: the concept of “reality in games,” the medium’s ability to blend different cultures, and independent game development. This includes games inspired by cooking, folklore, chess, and the “soulslike” genre. A specific focus will be on “applied games,” comparing projects from the Friuli Venezia Giulia and Basilicata regions.

A central moment will be the awarding of the IVIPRO Prize, which recognizes the best Italian university theses that have studied video games.

The special guest of the festival will be the director Gabriele Mainetti. He will take part in a public talk to discuss the language and potential of video games.
