Television series are back in the spotlight with a new international event: the Italian Global Series Festival. Nine years after the last edition of the RomaFictionFest (2007-2016), the world of TV series will find a new home between Rimini and Riccione from June 21 to 28, 2025, thanks to the initiative of APA – Associazione Produttori Audiovisivi, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, SIAE, and AGIS.

“A Cannes for fiction”: this is how Undersecretary for Culture Lucia Borgonzoni described the ambitious vision of the Festival. “Eight days in which artists and productions from Italy and abroad will take center stage, along with screenings, awards, and meetings. I am sure that this project will complete the international festival scene and establish itself as a major, unmissable event.”

The President of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Michele De Pascale, also emphasized the importance of this new event: “In recent years, the Region has made significant investments in training and supporting regional, national, and international productions through the Emilia-Romagna Film Commission. This Festival represents an opportunity to further promote Emilia-Romagna as an ideal location for all types of film productions.”

The Italian Global Series Festival is born from the decade-long experience of the RomaFictionFest. “APA conceived the festival back in 2007, thanks to the intuition of Adriano Ariè and Carlo Bixio regarding the cultural and economic value of television series, producing ten editions,” recalled Chiara Sbarigia, President of APA. “Italian seriality has made great strides in recent years, gaining popularity not only among Italian audiences but also worldwide, earning the respect of even the most discerning critics.”

This new edition will be directed by Marco Spagnoli, a journalist, critic, and experienced director who was already part of the RomaFictionFest team. Among the first announced highlights: a reunion of I Cesaroni, an event with the cast of Mare Fuori, and a discussion on Sandokan, as well as a rich program of national and international series premieres and the presentation of exclusive unseen footage.

The Romagna Riviera is ready to become the perfect stage to celebrate TV series, welcoming exceptional guests and an enthusiastic audience eagerly awaiting this grand comeback.
