From April 23 to 26, the Moroccan city of Essaouira will host the third edition of the Incontri del Cinema Italiano, an event celebrating the cultural bond between Italy and Morocco through four days of screenings, discussions, and creative exchanges.

Under the title La Dolce Vita à Mogador, the festival will showcase a selection of Italian and Moroccan films, with a special focus on female directors and perspectives in contemporary cinema. Among the Italian films featured are Gloria! by Margherita Vicario, Romeo è Giulietta by Giovanni Veronesi, and Diamanti by Ferzan Ozpetek, while Moroccan cinema will be represented by acclaimed directors such as Asmae El Moudir and Sofia Alaoui.

In addition to screenings, the event will include a masterclass on Othello by Orson Welles, filmed in Essaouira in 1951, and the debut of Incontri 2025, a new platform dedicated to exploring production opportunities between the two countries.

Supported by the Italian Embassy in Morocco and the Italian Cultural Institute in Rabat, the festival continues to strengthen the dialogue between two cinematic traditions, fostering creativity and international collaboration.
