Agreement reached on EU copyright reform, to make web giants pay “fair pay” when they broadcast contents produced by others, such as writers, artists, publishers and journalists. After a gruelling negotiating battle that began on Monday, the European Parliament agreed on the reform that will be introduced in 2021. The vice-president of the EU Commission, Andrus Ansip, wrote in a tweet: “Europeans will finally have modern copyright rules fit for digital age with real benefits for everyone: guaranteed rights for users, fair remuneration for creators, clarity of rules for platforms.”.
