Anna Godas, CEO and co-founder of Dogwoof, will receive the prestigious 2026 Grierson Trustees Award, sponsored by the BBC, in recognition of her company’s contribution to documentary production and distribution.

The award ceremony will take place on November 10 at Roundhouse in London, as part of the British Documentary Awards.

Godas expressed her great pride in receiving the recognition, emphasizing the importance of continuing to support true stories and ambitious projects, particularly in a context where opportunities to make room for a diversity of narratives are becoming increasingly limited. She also shared the credit for the award with the Dogwoof team, acknowledging the role of her colleagues in the company’s growth and in bringing quality films to international audiences.

Founded in the United Kingdom in 2005, Dogwoof began as a small independent distributor and has gradually established itself as a leading global player in the documentary sector. Over the course of its activity, the company has supported thirty-seven Oscar-nominated documentaries, seven of which went on to win the statuette, as well as five titles recognized at the BAFTAs and twenty recipients of a Grierson Award. Notable titles include 20 Days in Mariupol, Navalny, No Other Land, Free Solo, Apollo 11, Fire of Love, All That Breathes, The Act of Killing and Blackfish.

Anna Godas has helped transform Dogwoof into a company capable of supporting documentaries throughout their entire journey, from development to sales and international distribution.

The company operates within a network that connects filmmakers with buyers, distributors and production partners around the world.

Tom McDonald, president of the Grierson Trust, also highlighted the value of Godas’s contribution to promoting documentaries and increasing the visibility of industry professionals. McDonald further emphasized her ability to lead Dogwoof through market changes while maintaining her strong passion for quality cinema.

Anna Godas will also attend the twelfth edition of MIA – Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo, where she will take part in a talk dedicated to market analysis and the development of effective strategies for promoting independent documentaries. The event will also feature Stephanie Carter (Executive Producer, THIRTEEN), Lea Fels (Partner & Co-owner, Scenery), with Ieva Ūbele (Producer, Baltic Balkan Productions) as moderator.
