Yesterday, September 30, 2026, the press conference for the 12th edition of MIA – Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo was held at Palazzo Barberini. The event is promoted by ANICA, chaired by Alessandro Usai, and APA, chaired by Chiara Sbarigia, under the direction of Gaia Tridente.
MIA returns to Rome from October 19 to 23, with numerous new features compared to the previous edition. A new configuration will transform Via Veneto and Piazza Barberini into an area dedicated to promoting the film and audiovisual industry. There will be 7 official venues hosting the various events, with the participation of 85 international speakers.
One of the key events will take place on October 21 at 11:00 AM in the Sala Pietro da Cortona at Palazzo Barberini, where APA President Chiara Sbarigia will present the 8th Report on National Audiovisual Production, a fundamental tool for outlining the economic and employment landscape of the sector.
MIA is made possible thanks to the collaboration of an extensive network of institutions and organizations committed to promoting the Italian and international audiovisual industry.
The event benefits from the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ICE – the Italian Trade Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalization of Italian companies, as well as contributions from Creative Europe MEDIA and the Ministry of Culture.
At the regional level, MIA can count on the support of the Roma Lazio Film Commission Foundation and the Lazio Region, as well as the collaboration of the Department for Major Events, Sports, Tourism and Fashion of Roma Capitale. The institutional framework is completed by the patronage of Eurimages, the Council of Europe fund dedicated to supporting the co-production, distribution, dissemination and digitalization of European films.
Compared to the previous edition, MIA has recorded significant growth in scale. Applications for the selection process increased by 26%, reaching a total of 630 projects.
At the end of the selection process, 104 projects from 43 countries were selected, divided into four sections: Film Co-Production Market, Drama Co-Production Market, Doc Co-Production Market and Animation Series Gap Financing Market.
The selected projects will therefore have access to the various programs offered by MIA, including the Co-Production Market, Gap Financing Market and Work-In-Progress.
