Senator Lucia Borgonzoni, Undersecretary for Culture, announced the signing of the MiC-MEF decree updating the regulations governing the Tax Credit for film and audiovisual production companies, adopted jointly by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The measure introduces new rules aimed at making the tax incentive system more effective, ensuring the proper use of public resources, and strengthening one of the main tools supporting the film and audiovisual sector.

Following the signing of the decree and its registration by the relevant oversight bodies, the 2026 application windows for accessing the incentives will be opened.

The new provisions establish clearer criteria for the allocation of benefits, strengthen controls, and improve expenditure monitoring.

According to Borgonzoni, the aim of the measure is to support companies that invest in the sector and contribute to job creation, while ensuring that public resources are used transparently and generate value for the industry and for the country.

The Undersecretary also highlighted that the new regulatory framework is intended to consolidate an increasingly competitive film and audiovisual sector, capable of promoting talent and strengthening Italy’s role as an international reference point for productions.
