On the occasion of the EU-Japan Animation Business Workshop, held during Expo 2025 in Osaka, the Italy Pavilion hosted a networking session dedicated to the animation sector.
The initiative – organized in collaboration with the European Union, the Cervantes Institute of Tokyo, EUNIC Tokyo, and the Osaka Animation College – involved Cinecittà, in coordination with the Directorate-General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Italian Ministry of Culture.
The session was attended by animation professionals from various European countries, as well as Ambassador Mario Vattani, Commissioner General for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka, who emphasized that the film co-production agreement signed in 2023 between Italy and Japan – which came into force in 2024 – represents a strategic opportunity to foster collaboration in the sector.
Similarly, Roberto Stabile, Head of Internationalization at Cinecittà/DGCA, highlighted Italy’s role as a key partner for co-productions with Japan.
The event had a dual objective: on the one hand, to encourage new contacts and projects; on the other, to promote Italian policies supporting the audiovisual sector, contributing to strengthening Italy’s presence in the international animation landscape.
