The first phase of the Premio Franco Solinas 2025 – International Competition for feature film projects for cinema and multimedia platforms – has concluded.

From the 553 stories received anonymously, the contest jury of 38 jurors selected the eight finalist projects competing for the Franco Solinas Best Subject Award of 2,000 euros.

Projects moving on to the next stage of the competition are Bambolina, original title Itaca by Daniela Mitta and Vittorio Antonacci; Furore,  original title Marina by Federico Amenta and Paoli De Luca; Il padrone, original title Padrone padrone by Antonio Abbate and Michele Stefanile; Il vulcano non erutta mai davvero, original title Babilonia by Raffaele Iaccarino and Vittorio Perrucci; Ma come faccio io a non piangere?, original title Amici mai by Vera Miniero, Sofia Vecchiato and Dorotea Ciani; Ombre, original title Duhu by Marco Panichella; Ricamatoio ‘95, original title Ricamatoio ’95 by Chiara Dario, Biagio Borgese and Marco Mulana; Terra Maledetta, original title On Cursed Land by Rebecca Ricci and Marcello Enea Newman.

The writers of the finalist projects will have three months to develop their screenplays and will have the opportunity to meet with the jury members during the Advanced Training Lab in La Maddalena, the place where the Prize was born. This phase will include a second jury that will award the Franco Solinas Prize for Best Screenplay, worth €9,000, and the Claudia Sbarigia Scholarship – dedicated to honoring talent in portraying female characters and the female universe – worth €1,000.
