At an extraordinary meeting held on Friday 4 October 2024, the General Assembly of Locarno Film Festival members confirmed the addition of two new members to the Board of Directors.
Roberto Cicutto, Italian producer and former President of the Venice Biennale (2020-2024), and Gilles Marchand, current Director General of the SSR (Swiss Broadcasting Corporation), who will leave his post at the end of October, will join the Festival’s management team, which already includes President Maja Hoffmann, Vice-President Luigi Pedrazzini, and Council members Nadia Dresti, Jean-Philippe Rochat and Nicola Pini, Mayor of Locarno.
The management team includes, among others, Giona A. Nazzaro as Artistic Director, Markus Duffner as Head of Locarno Pro, and Mattia De-Sassi as COO (Chief Operating Officer).
This new structure completes the reform begun last year, aimed at making the Festival more efficient.
Despite these changes, Artistic Director Giona A. Nazzaro will continue to retain full decision-making autonomy over the artistic programme, a prerogative guaranteed by the Festival’s statutes.
The 78th edition of the Locarno Film Festival will take place from 6 to 16 August 2025.
