It’s confirmed: The Lord of the Rings will be a tv show. Amazon acquired the television rights for Tolkien’s masterpiece for 250 million dollars, the highest price for a tv production so far. According to Deadline, Jeff Bezos’s giant would be interested in the production of multiple shows inspired to Tolkien’s novel, which will tell new stories of the Middle Earth: a prequel of Peter Jackson’s trilogy and, potentially, several spin-offs. The launch is scheduled for 2020 on Prime Video.
