A Japanese woman called Satsuki Tendo lives in an alternative 1960s San Francisco and she owns a one-of-a-kind zoo: it doesn’t house traditional creatures but mythological beasts stalked by arm dealers who hunt them in order to sell them to the militia fighting Vietnam War. Satsuki, who as a child was visited by a Baku, an entity that ate all of her nightmares, is now desperately trying to save this creature that fell into the wrong hands. Helping her there’s also Phoebe, a gorgon wearing contact lenses and a weave. The two women will try to stop the Baku from being used to eat the hopes and dreams of the pacifist, psychedelic generation of the 60s…
