As a member of the international co-production team at NHK Enterprises, Yokota has developed collaborative projects with partners in France, Singapore, China, and beyond. His most notable work, The Floating World, introduced a new method of visualizing history through animated Japanese artwork, exploring Tokyo’s sustainable lifestyle in the mid-19th century. The film was screened at COP27, the UN General Assembly, and international film festivals, including Hot Docs 2023. His documentaries cover diverse topics—from the story of a Ukrainian refugee in Japan to the traditions of the Ainu ethnic minority in Hokkaido, and the timeless tradition of Zen Buddhism—unveiling unique facets of Japan for global audiences.
