With a broad career spanning thirty years as a creative in the entertainment industry, Al Munteanu started his career as a radio and gameshow host and one of the first five VJs of MTV Europe. After moving into film production, he founded SquareOne Entertainment, a leading German distributor known for films like The Imitation Game, Book Club, All Is Lost, The Wife, Trautmann and most recently One Life. With its production arm, SquareOne Productions, the company develops and produces original feature and series projects. Recent productions on screen include Euer Ehren for ARD, ORF and STARZ; Un Homme D’Honneur for TF1 in co-production with Federation Entertainment; the mafia origin story L’Ora for Canale Cinque Italy and SKY with Indiana Productions, Italy; and Austrian serial killer bestseller Totenfrau in co-production with MonaFilm, Barry Entertainment, Netflix and ORF as well as the Danish thriller series Oxen, based on the book trilogy by the same name, with SF Studios for TV2 Denmark and ZDF in Germany. Al is one of the founding architects of The Vuelta Group. The private equity funded European studio focuses on local distribution and international production of film and television with local appeal and global reach. Vuelta Group unifies multiple existing independent companies across Europe under one creative roof. Al is a member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
