Director Paolo Sorrentino will receive the prestigious Honorary Heart of Sarajevo award during the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival, which will take place from August 15th to 22nd, 2025. For the occasion, the “Tribute To” section of the festival will present a retrospective of his filmography and hold a masterclass on contemporary art.

Sorrentino, who made his debut with the film L’Uomo in Più (2001), has received numerous international awards throughout his career, including nominations for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival for Le Conseguenze dell’Amore (2004) and L’Amico di Famiglia (2006), and winning the Jury Prize at Cannes with Il Divo in 2008. His most famous film, La Grande Bellezza (2014), won a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Best International Film.

According to Jovan Marjanović, the president of the Sarajevo Film Festival, Sorrentino tells visually elegant stories about local and personal themes, presenting eccentric yet human characters with whom everyone can identify.
