The Lucana Film Commission has announced the re-opening of the LUCANA DOC competition announcement, which will now accept applications until October 31, 2024.
Margherita Romaniello, the president of the Lucana Film Commission, emphasized that LUCANA DOC has been and continues to be a bold initiative aimed at promoting the documentary genre as a way to portray Basilicata, a region rich in cultural and historical significance.
The goal is to depict the area as a “construction site of tales,” reflecting its essence through audiovisual storytelling.
This competition seeks projects that narrate the unique characteristics of Basilicata, celebrating it as a place of cultural exchange, home to courageous men and women, and a cradle of legends, magic, and millennia-old interactions between the lands and cults tied with nature”.
After initially selecting five projects, the commission decided to re-open submissions to allocate the remaining funds of €327,361.10.
The terms, conditions, and themes outlined in the 2023 competition remain unchanged. Notably, companies that were not selected in the previous round may reapply, providing their new application has to be different from their prior submission.
