The cine-audiovisual lab Soph-IA has launched Cort-IA, a groundbreaking initiative inviting writers and filmmakers to submit short film scripts co-written with the support of chatbots and generative language models. Developed in collaboration with the Universities of Bolzano, Trieste, and LUMSA, the project blends academic research with creative experimentation to explore new AI-assisted writing processes.
The winning script will be turned into a short film, produced using AI-based technologies with guidance from the Soph-IA lab. Alongside the academic institutions, Rai Cinema Channel is the official media partner and may distribute the final short. Additional partners include Air3 (Italian Directors Association), cultural organization Sineglossa, and the independent film incubator 49°.
Cort-IA aims to serve as a testbed for responsible co-creation models that protect human creativity and promote ethical, transparent use of AI in the audiovisual field. Scripts will be evaluated by a jury of university researchers, industry experts, and a language model trained specifically for the contest. Evaluation criteria include narrative quality, originality, production feasibility, and innovation in the creative process.
