The Maximo Award has officially been launched by the newly established Maximo Foundation, created with the aim of promoting and celebrating excellence in Italian audiovisual production. The initiative seeks to fill a long-standing gap in the national awards landscape by providing television and serial content with a prestigious benchmark comparable to the David di Donatello Awards for cinema.
The Foundation’s Board of Directors, appointed by APA – Associazione Produttori Audiovisivi and AGIS – Associazione Generale Italiana dello Spettacolo, brings together leading figures from Italy’s cultural and creative industries: Chiara Sbarigia (President of APA), Francesco Giambrone (President of AGIS), Aurelio Regina (President of Fondimpresa), Bruno Sconocchia (President of Assoconcerti), Maite Carpio Bulgari (CEO of Garbo Produzioni), Marco Parri (President of the Italian Federation for Live Entertainment), Mario Lorini (President of ANEC), Nicola Serra (CEO of Palomar) and Raffaella Leone (CEO of Leone Film Group).
“I am deeply honoured to chair such a prestigious Board of Directors,” said Chiara Sbarigia, announcing that the first step will be the appointment of the Scientific Committee, which will define the regulations and juries of the Maximo Awards. “Italy was missing a television award on this scale, and with the Maximo Foundation we intend to address that gap.”
The Maximo Award will recognise television content across series, entertainment, animation, live-action, documentaries and factual programming, as well as television talent. A prize for Best International Production will also be awarded, alongside a special section dedicated to technical professions within the audiovisual sector. In addition, the Foundation will award a ‘Maximo’ scholarship for the best debut, open across all categories.
With this initiative, the Maximo Foundation aims to become a new point of reference for highlighting creativity, professional excellence and innovation within the Italian audiovisual industry.
