The Berlinale aims to renew itself. Next year it will celebrate its 70th anniversary, and for the occasion it decided to postpone its dates. The move towards the end of the month in the busy calendar of the period, as requested by many insiders, serves above all to detach from Sundance and the season of awards (Oscar and BAFTA), which were too close to the German event. The event, which will have a new artistic director (the Italian Carlo Chatrian, before in Locarno) will then take place from February 20 to March 1, 2020.
